Honda got a few surprises at its booth for KLIMS 2024, including its first-ever EV that will be sold in Malaysia, the Honda e:N1. Beyond that, the Japanese carmaker also has the Prelude Concept on display, as well as the cute Motocompacto and eVTOL aircraft.
The star of the show is certainly the Prelude Concept. After all, Malaysia is the first country outside of Japan to get a public appearance of the hybrid coupe. What makes the Prelude particularly interesting is the fact that it marks the return of the iconic nameplate. Of course, as its name suggests, this is only a concept of the eventual production model, which is set to be unveiled sometime in 2025 next year.
And then there’s the e:N1, which is essentially an electric version of the HR-V. Set to be available in Malaysia sometime in 2025 next year, exact specifications of the electric SUV for our local market have not been revealed, but it should be similar to other markets. The model previewed in Indonesia, for example, is powered by a front-mounted electric motor that produces 150kW (204PS) of power and 310Nm of torque; good for a 0-100kmph time of 7.7 seconds to a top speed of 160kmph.
Aside from that, the Motocompacto is also present at Honda’s booth, and it is available for visitors to try out. Essentially a modern version of the Motocompo – a 50cc foldable scooter that was released back in the 1980s – the Motocompacto has an electric motor instead, which sends 490W of power and 16nm of torque to the front wheel. It also has a top speed of 24kmph, which takes…well, seven seconds to reach from a standstill.
Last but not least is the eVTOL, which stands for electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. It has a range of 400km, but unlike the Motocompacto, visitors…well, can’t actually ride it.
All of these models are currently displayed at Honda Malaysia’s booth at KLIMS 2024 until 11 December at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur. Of course, other mainstream Honda models are also present at the event, including the Honda Civic Type R FL5.
