Aside from the Honda Prelude Concept hybrid coupe – which will be shown in Malaysia for the first time outside of Japan – Honda Malaysia just confirmed that the Honda Motocompacto will also be making an appearance at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2024. In fact, members of the public can even test drive (or rather, test ride) the foldable electric scooter!
The Motocompacto, as its name suggests, is essentially a modern version of the Motocompo; a 50cc foldable scooter that was released back in the 1980s. Naturally, in this day and age, the Motocompacto has an electric motor instead, which sends 490W of power and 16nm of torque to the front wheel. It also has a top speed of 24kmph, which takes…well, seven seconds to reach from a standstill.
In terms of range, the Motocompacto’s 6.8Ah battery can provide up to 20km of travel on a single charge, and it takes 3.5 hours to fully charge the battery. This being a compact, foldable electric scooter, it only makes sense for it to be lightweight (for a scooter, anyway), tipping the scales at 18.7kg.
If you’re eager to try out the Honda Motocompacto for yourself, you can do so over at KLIMS 2024 in MITEC, Kuala Lumpur from 5 to 11 December. Priced at $995 in the US – that comes up to about RM4,420 – it will be interesting to see if Honda Malaysia has any plans to sell the cute electric scooter locally.
