After many years, Malaysia finally gets its own Apple Store. Compared to Apple Premium Resellers such as Switch and Machines on our shores, Apple The Exchange TRX is particularly unique as it is directly handled by Apple itself, and a huge crowd gathered for the grand opening of the Apple Store on 22 June last weekend.
Of course, we were there for the opening of Apple The Exchange TRX, and it was…well, quite the experience. It wasn’t just Malaysians that were in line either; customers from various parts of the world were also there, and some were even wearing the Apple Vision Pro headset while waiting in line!
We arrived about an hour before the Apple Store opens at 10AM, and there was already a big crowd eagerly waiting to get inside the store. We were told that the very first customer in line came from China, and he was already in line at 6PM the previous day – talk about dedication.
When the doors open at 10AM, customers are greeted by Apple team members as they enter the store to much cheer and fanfare. This is also where the commemorative tote bag is given, and even at about 10:30AM, these bags were still offered to customers.
With that in mind, perhaps it’s best not to purchase the tote bag for upwards of RM10,000, yes?
Anyway, the crowd within Apple The Exchange TRX gradually got bigger as more customers are allowed to enter the retail space. Despite the sheer amount of people in the store, the Apple Store doesn’t feel cramped at all, thanks to the fact that it has three different floors for customers to roam around.
As mentioned, an Apple Store is handled directly by Apple, so with that in mind, Apple The Exchange TRX has many services that are not offered by Apple Premium Resellers. These include Apple Pickup, Today at Apple sessions – this is where customers can learn how to get the most out of their Apple devices – as well as Apple Education Pricing; this was previously offered exclusively online.
Unlike the first and second floors of Apple The Exchange TRX, the third floor is not particularly furnished, though it does offer a pretty wide walkway for customers to walk around. You can also get a good overview of the Apple Store on this level, and there’s an elevator to all three levels as well for those who need it.
If you look up from anywhere within the store, you can see the impressive three-dimensional layered roof with a “central glazed oculus” to bring daylight into the interior. The 3D roof is what gives this particular Apple Store its unique appeal, and just like other Apple facilities, Apple The Exchange TRX runs on 100% renewable energy and is carbon neutral.
And that is Apple The Exchange TRX! It’s great that Malaysia finally gets its own Apple Store, which also features a unique, eye-catching architecture. If you’re keen to give the store a visit, head on over to The Exchange TRX – the Apple Store is open from 10AM to 10PM every day.
To celebrate the opening of the store, a special Today at Apple series, “Jom Discover,” will also be held from 22 June until 6 July. If you’re interested to attend any of the sessions, you can sign up here.
