Disney+ Hotstar’s new prices for the Malaysian market are now live. Previously, the subscription service was only offered with a quarterly membership for RM54.90. Effective today, the prices start at RM24.90/month for the monthly membership, and there are also Basic and Premium plans now.
The Basic plan limits the number of concurrent streaming to only one device, along with a three-device limit for logins and up to 1080p streaming. Going for the Premium tier will increase the number of concurrent streaming to three screens with a 10-device limit for logins and up to 4K video quality.
What if you have an existing quarterly membership? Well, you will be automatically “upgraded” to the Premium tier, given that a quarterly membership is only offered with a Premium plan. That means you will be paying RM79.90 a month, an increase of RM25 every three months.
Of course, to get the best value, you can opt for the annual membership instead, which are priced at RM214.90 and RM289.90 for the Basic and Premium plans respectively. There’s no denying that this is a rather drastic price hike, even though the streaming service has not seen any price revision since its introduction on our shores in 2021.
