Netflix’s live-action adaption of the much beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise finally got its first-ever trailer today, and it looks rather promising. Not only did the main cast of the series make an appearance in the trailer, we also got a pretty good look at the Avatar universe in…well, real life.
As the trailer above shows, Netflix’s Avatar seems to cover the first season – or rather, Book One – of the original Nickelodeon animated series. The titular character, Aang, is played by Gordon Cormier, who looks to be portraying the character quite well.
There are also some familiar faces in this live-action adaption of Avatar. There’s Daniel Dae Kim as the ruthless Fire Lord Ozai, as well as Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as the lovable Uncle Iroh. As for Katara and Sokka, they are played by Kiawentiio and Ian Ousley respectively, while Zuko is portrayed by Dallas Liu.
The latest live-action adaption of Avatar: The Last Airbender – which is hopefully better than the previous one released back in 2010 – is set to be released on Netflix next year on 22 February 2024. It’s worth noting that the animated series’ original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, are also working on a series of animated movies set in the Avatar universe.
