It appears the new Dell XPS 13 (9305) has been quietly launched here in Malaysia. Basically, it’s a more affordable variant of the higher-end XPS 13 (9310), but with a different display. Instead of a 16:10 screen, the newer, more budget-friendly XPS 13 features a 16:9 panel.
In fact, upon closer inspection, there’s a very good chance the XPS 13 (9305) uses the same chassis as the 2019 XPS 13, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. After all, starting at RM4,499, it is quite a bit more affordable than the XPS 13 (9310). That particular model retails from RM5,399 – a RM900 price difference is quite big.
For RM4,499, the new XPS 13 features Intel’s latest 11th generation Core i5-1135G7 processor paired with 8GB of RAM, integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics, 512GB of SSD storage, as well as a 13.3-inch 1920 x 1080 InfinityEdge screen. All in all, a reasonably well-equipped premium productivity laptop for that kind of money.
If you want more processing power, you can opt for the Core i7-1165G7 configuration of the XPS 13. Aside from the faster processor, you also get a much sharper 13.3-inch 3840 x 2160 InfinityEdge touch-enabled screen, 16GB of RAM, the same 512GB SSD, and Iris Xe graphics. Of course, these upgrades do increase the price of the XPS 13 quite a bit to RM5,899.
The new Dell XPS 13 (9305) is now available for purchase on Dell’s Malaysian online store from RM4,499. If you don’t mind its slightly narrower 16:9 screen, this model is certainly a good alternative to the higher-end XPS 13 (9310).
