Last week, we spotted the M4-powered Mac mini and iMac in SIRIM’s database. Today, it is the MacBook Pro‘s turn; both the 14-inch and 16-inch models have been registered with SIRIM, so there’s a good chance the laptop will be available for purchase in Malaysia very soon.
As many as three different configurations of the M4 MacBook Pro have been certified by SIRIM. These include the 14-inch (A3401) and 16-inch (A3403) models powered by the M4 Pro chip – both of them were registered on 15 November – while the base 14-inch MacBook Pro (A3112) with an M4 chip was certified by SIRIM just today on 19 November.
At the time of writing, the M4 Max variants of the MacBook Pro have not appeared in SIRIM’s database yet.
Thanks to the new M4 chip, overall performance and battery life of the MacBook Pro have increased. Apple says the new laptop now offers up to 24 hours of use on a single charge, an increase from the already very long 22-hour battery life of the M3 model.
Besides that, there’s also the new nano-texture display option to minimise glare and reflections. Unlike how it is on the iMac, where the option is not offered on the base model, the nano-texture option can be configured on all variants of the M4 MacBook Pro for RM640. Oh, there’s also a new 12MP Centre Stage camera for improved video quality.
To recap, the M4 MacBook Pro starts at RM6,999 and RM10,999 in Malaysia for the 14-inch and 16-inch models respectively. Now that the laptop has been certified by SIRIM already – though the M4 Max models have not been registered yet – we reckon the new MacBook Pro could be available in Malaysia as early as next week.
