M4 Mac mini & iMac Available in Malaysia Soon – Starts at RM2,499
November 15, 2024 Andrew Cheng

Initially announced a couple of weeks ago, the new M4-powered Mac mini and iMac will be available in Malaysia very soon. Both of them were registered with SIRIM just yesterday on 14 November, so it won’t be long now until the two machines are officially sold on our shores.

One of the biggest upgrades to the M4 Mac mini is a smaller, more compact form factor. According to Apple, it is now less than half the size of the previous model, measuring 5 by 5 inches – that’s 12.7cm, for us who are more familiar with the metric system. On top of that, it’s also powered by the Cupertino company’s M4 and M4 Pro chips while retaining the same RM2,499 starting price in Malaysia.

For that kind of money, the RM2,499 base model of the new Mac mini features an M4 chip with 10-core CPU and GPU, 16GB unified memory, and 256GB SSD storage. If you want the M4 Pro model instead with 12-Core GPU, 16-core GPU, 24GB unified memory, and 512GB SSD, that will set you back RM5,999.

Next, there’s the updated iMac. Naturally, the most notable upgrade to the all-in-one desktop is the M4 chip along with a lower RM5,799 starting price in Malaysia. The base model features an M4 chip with 8-core CPU and GPU, 16GB unified memory, and 256GB of storage. Moving up is the RM6,699 configuration that sports the same memory and storage capacities, but it has a faster M4 chip with 10-core CPU and GPU, a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, and support for gigabit ethernet.

Now that the M4-powered iMac and Mac mini have been registered with SIRIM already, we reckon the two Mac machines can be purchased in Malaysia very soon. Rest assured, we will keep a close eye on the local availability of the new Mac mini and iMac.
