iMac Updated With Faster M4 Chip, New Colours, Lower RM5,799 Starting Price in Malaysia

As promised, Apple is introducing new Mac products this week, starting with the updated iMac. Naturally, the latest all-in-one desktop is powered by the new Apple M4 chip – promising up to 2.1x faster performance compared to the M1 iMac – and it is also offered in new colours. On top of that, the M4 iMac is now more affordable in Malaysia too.

Previously starting at RM6,299, the M4 iMac now retails from RM5,799 in Malaysia. For that kind of money, the base model features an M4 chip with 8-core CPU and GPU, 16GB unified memory, and 256GB of storage. Moving up is the RM6,699 configuration that sports the same memory and storage capacities, but it has a faster M4 chip with 10-core CPU and GPU, a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, and support for gigabit ethernet.

Not surprisingly, the iMac remains very colourful with seven different colour options to choose from. These include green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. The accompany accessories – Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse – have also been updated with USB-C ports.

Also new to the M4 iMac is the nano-texture glass option to reduce reflections and glare, which is a RM850 add-on for the 10-core CPU and GPU models only. Besides that, the all-in-one continues to sport a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, a 12MP Centre Stage camera with Desk View, and up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports.

As usual, while Apple has revealed the retail prices of the M4 iMac in Malaysia, the actual availability of the desktop on our shores has not been detailed yet. Rest assured, we will keep a close eye on the local availability of the new iMac.
