iPad mini Refreshed With A17 Pro Chip, Apple Pencil Pro Support, Lower RM2,199 Price
October 15, 2024 Andrew Cheng

The iPad mini was previously updated in 2021, so it’s high time the compact tablet is refreshed for 2024. The new iPad mini is now powered by Apple’s fast A17 Pro chip, which made its initial debut on the iPhone 15 Pro phones. Yes, that also means the tablet will get Apple Intelligence once the AI feature is ready.

On top of that, the iPad mini, like many other recent Apple products, is now more affordable in Malaysia. Previously starting at RM2,299 for the 64GB model, the new tablet is priced from RM2,199 with double the storage at 128GB now; that’s not a bad deal at all.

If you want even more storage, you can opt for the 256GB or 512GB variants of the iPad mini for RM2,599 and RM3,499 respectively. Of course, you can also add cellular support for all three variants of the tablet with an additional RM700 top-up.

Aside from the faster A17 Pro chip, the 2024 iPad mini also supports Apple Pencil Pro now, along with faster WiFi 6E connectivity and a USB-C port that is twice as fast with transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps. Oh, there are two new colours too: blue and purple.

To recap, the new iPad mini starts at RM2,199 in Malaysia with 128GB of storage space. While the Malaysian pricing of the compact tablet has been revealed, it is not available for purchase on our shores just yet. Rest assured, we will keep a close eye on the local availability of the updated iPad mini.
