Aside from the updated entry-level iPad, Apple also introduced the all-new iPad mini. Now sporting a sleeker design with smaller screen bezels, it is also powered by Apple’s latest A15 Bionic chip – the same processor that’s found in the brand new iPhone 13 series.
Thanks to the A15 Bionic chip, the new iPad mini is said to offer 40% faster CPU performance than its predecessor. In the graphics department, it sees a bigger 80% jump in GPU performance. Needless to say, this is one fast iPad in a compact form factor.
The design of the iPad mini is now far sleeker than the previous model too. Thanks to the smaller screen bezels, the display size of this tablet has actually been increased to an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina screen. It also features True Tone technology with up to 500 nits of brightness.
Other specifications of the latest iPad mini include a new 12MP ultra-wide angle selfie camera – that’s right, the Center Stage experience is also available on this compact tablet now – a 12MP rear camera, 5G connectivity, support for the second generation Apple Pencil, as well as a USB-C connection.
For the Malaysian market, the all-new iPad mini retails from RM2,299 for the 64GB WiFi-only model; the cellular configuration with the same amount of storage starts at RM2,949. No word yet on exactly when the new iPad mini will be sold locally, however.
