The brand new iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are here. As expected, both of these iPhones are now faster than ever thanks to the new Apple A15 Bionic chip, along with a more capable (all-new) dual camera system and a smaller screen notch.
Let’s start with the A15 Bionic chip powering these two new iPhones. Built on a 5nm process just like its predecessor, this new processor promises better power-efficiency while offering faster performance. Compared to its “leading competition,” the A15 Bionic delivers better CPU and GPU performances by 50% and 30% respectively.
It’s also worth noting that these two new iPhones have improved battery life. The iPhone 13 mini can last 1.5 hours longer than its predecessor, while the iPhone 13 can return 2.5 hours more usage on a single charge than the iPhone 12. This improved battery life is attributed to the A15 Bionic chip, more power-efficient components, and bigger batteries.
The display of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini also gets some neat upgrades. Not only is the notch 20% smaller now, the Super Retina XDR display on these two phones is also 28% brighter with a max outdoor brightness of 800 nits. This being an OLED panel, you get true, deep blacks, and vibrant colours as well.
In the camera department, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are packed with a new dual camera system made up of a 12MP primary sensor (it can now capture 47% more light) and a 12MP ultra-wide angle lens. Interestingly, sensor-shift OIS – first introduced on the iPhone 12 Pro Max – is now available on these two iPhones too for the primary shooter.
Oh, the lenses on the rear camera module are now arranged diagonally as well.
For the Malaysian market, the iPhone 13 mini starts at RM3,399 for the 128GB model, while the iPhone 13 is priced from RM3,899 with the same storage capacity. Both of these iPhones will be available for pre-order on 1 October, with deliveries taking place from 8 October onwards.
