The public beta of iOS 18 can now be downloaded. The beta release allows iPhone users to try out some of iOS 18’s new features, including a slew of customisation options and support for RCS messaging. However, Apple Intelligence is not offered in the public beta of iOS 18.
Instead, Apple Intelligence will only be offered later this year in future software betas. It’s also worth noting that only selected iPhones will support the AI-powered feature, which are limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max at the moment.
Nonetheless, the iOS 18 public beta does include a ton of customisation options. Apps and widgets on the Home Screen, for example, can finally be arranged in any open space, which should make it much easier to keep things tidy. The buttons at the bottom of the Lock Screen can also be changed now, and users can even swipe between different groups (and add new ones) in Control Centre.
If you want to check out iOS 18 for yourself, you can give the public beta a try through the Apple Beta Software Program. However, given that this is still a beta version of the software, you may encounter a number of bugs and issues. With that in mind, it’s best to install the public beta of iOS 18 on a secondary device.
