iOS 18 Adds a Slew of Customisation Options & AI Smarts
June 11, 2024 Andrew Cheng

The iPhone will be getting a ton of customisation options with iOS 18. Set to be released later this year, iPhone owners will be able to change the appearance of their Home Screen, Lock Screen, and even Control Centre. Of course, a number of AI-centric features will also be introduced, courtesy of Apple Intelligence.

On iOS 18, apps and widgets on the Home Screen can finally be arranged in any open space, which should make it much easier to keep things tidy. The buttons at the bottom of the Lock Screen can also be changed now, and users can even swipe between different groups (and add new ones) in Control Centre.

As for the Apple Intelligence integration, the new systemwide Writing Tools built into iOS 18 let users rewrite, proofread, and summarise text on various apps. Siri will also be improved accordingly, becoming “even more natural, contextually relevant, and personal.” Oh, users can even type to Siri now, so it will no longer be limited to just voice communication.

iOS 18 is set to be introduced later this year, with the developer beta available today. If you’re eager to give the new update a try for yourself, you can do so once the public beta is available through the Apple Beta Software Program sometime next month in July 2024.
