iPad Finally Gets Calculator App in iPadOS 18 With Apple Pencil Support
June 11, 2024 Andrew Cheng

iPadOS 18, just like iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, will be getting some AI features with Apple Intelligence. But the most exciting addition to iPadOS 18 is perhaps the…well, Calculator app, which also gets Apple Pencil integration.

It’s really quite surreal that the iPad hasn’t gotten a Calculator app more than a decade after its initial release. Of course, it’s no ordinary Calculator app: thanks to Math Notes, users can type or write out mathematical equations with the Apple Pencil and see them instantly solved in their own handwriting; that’s quite neat.

Beyond that, iPadOS 18 will also introduce the same customisation options as iOS 18, including the ability to place app and widgets in any open position on the Home Screen. The appearance of icons can even be changed, whether it’s the colour scheme, size, or even removal of the name underneath apps and widgets for a more minimalist appearance.

iPadOS 18 will arrive later this year, and as usual, the developer beta is available today. Users can also sign up for access to the public beta through the Apple Beta Software Program once the update is available next month in July 2024.
