Proton S70 Official Spec Sheet Revealed – 4 Variants, Quartz Black Exclusive to Flagship X
November 11, 2023 Andrew Cheng

As we approach closer to the Malaysian launch of the Proton S70 sometime this month, Proton dealers have started sharing the official (summarised) spec sheet of the upcoming C-segment sedan. We now know that there are in fact four variants of the S70, and all of them will be powered by the same 1.5L turbo engine.

It’s worth noting that the specifications of the S70 listed here largely mirror the previously leaked spec table. The most interesting detail is the fact that all four variants (Executive, Premium, Flagship, Flagship X) carry the 1.5T designation, which is the same naming convention used by the X50 to signify the models that feature the 1.5L MPI turbo engine.

With that in mind, we believe the S70 lineup will be powered by the sole 1.5L MPI turbo mill; no TGDi engine option here. Nonetheless, the turbo engine is still quite good, producing 150PS and 226Nm of torque. The spec sheet also confirms that the sedan will be packed with a dual-clutch transmission, which is likely the same 7DCT used by the X50 and X70.

Aside from that, the inclusion of six airbags is standard across the S70 range, though only the Flagship and Flagship X models – the latter adds on a sunroof – feature advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). It is rumoured to be similar to the X90‘s sophisticated ADAS, though it doesn’t include emergency lane keeping assist and auto park assist.

Interestingly, if you look at the colour options for the S70, the Quartz Black paint is exclusive to the range-topping Flagship X model.

Bookings for the Proton S70 are now open at all Proton 3S and 4S outlets, with public previews happening from 11 November today. Chances are, the previews will be reserved for customers who have placed a booking for the sedan. Production has started for the S70, so it is very likely the sedan will be launched sometime this month, just as promised.
