Honor just previewed two foldable smartphone at IFA 2023. There’s the Honor Magic V2, which is touted by the company as its slimmest and lightest foldable phone yet, as well as the Honor V Purse concept that reimagines a foldable smartphone as a “fashion-forward purse,” as the company puts it.
Let’s start with the Magic V2. Weighing only 231g with a 9.9mm chassis when it’s folded, it is certainly a lightweight, thin foldable phone. Despite its slim profile, it still comes with a rather generous 5,000mAh battery with support for 66W fast charging.
Aside from that, the Magic V2 also features a triple camera system made up of a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 20MP telephoto shooter. It also has a total of two 16MP selfie cameras; one for the inner screen, and another for the cover display.
Other specifications of the Magic V2 include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with 16GB of RAM, three storage options (256GB, 512GB, 1TB), a 7.92-inch 2344 x 2156 OLED primary display with a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as a 6.43-inch 2376 x 1060 OLED cover screen (also 120Hz).
As for the Honor V Purse, it looks strikingly similar to the form factor of 2020’s Huawei Mate Xs 2 with an outward-facing foldable display. While detailed hardware of the phone were not revealed – it’s a concept, after all – it does make use of an always-on display to mimic a…well, purse.
Unfortunately, the global availability of the Honor Magic V2 or Honor V Purse was not revealed at the company’s IFA 2023 press conference. However, given that the Magic Vs was launched here, we reckon the Magic V2 will (eventually) be introduced locally.
