Huawei Mate Xs 2 Launched in Malaysia – 120Hz Foldable Screen, Snapdragon 888, RM7,999

Unveiled globally just yesterday, Huawei Malaysia just introduced its latest foldable phone on our shores. Not only does the Huawei Mate Xs 2 feature a foldable display with a faster refresh rate than its predecessor, it’s also quite a bit lighter, tipping the scales at 255g.

Only one variant of the Mate Xs 2 is offered for the Malaysian market. Sporting 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, the foldable phone retails at a cool RM7,999 locally. It will be available for pre-order from 3 to 23 June, and early birds will get up to RM1,400 worth of freebies.

The most impressive hardware of the Mate Xs 2 has to be its 7.80-inch 2480 x 2200 OLED foldable display. When folded, it’s a more compact 6.5-inch 2480 x 1176 panel. Thanks to the screen’s 120Hz refresh rate, the phone also feels extra responsive and smooth. The hinge itself is also nice and solid whenever I fold and unfold the phone.

Other specifications of the Mate Xs 2 include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G chipset, a triple camera system (50MP primary + 13MP ultra-wide angle + 8MP telephoto) , a 10.7MP selfie camera, a 4,600mAh battery with support for 66W fast charging, and EMUI 12 based on Android. No, Google Mobile Services (GMS) are still not offered.

The Huawei Mate Xs 2 will be available for pre-order in Malaysia from 3 to 23 June for RM7,999. To reiterate, early birds will get freebies worth up to RM1,400, including a Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro.
