Perodua just breached the 100,000 sales mark in Malaysia, and it only took the national carmaker five months to do so. Between January to May 2022, Perodua managed to register as many as 106,179 cars – this is 10% more than the 96,281 units sold by the brand in the same period in 2021.
Not surprisingly, the Perodua Myvi is the most popular model with over 31,689 units registered. This is followed by the Perodua Axia at 24,024 units, with the Perodua Bezza following closely behind with 23,336 sales recorded.
To recap, Perodua aims to sell as many as 247,800 vehicles in 2022, which would be a 37.5% improvement compared to 2021, where it managed to register 193,400 units. With seven months of sales left, there’s a good chance the carmaker can achieve this lofty sales target.
After all, the Perodua Alza replacement is set to be launched soon, given that the national carmaker has already started teasing the upcoming model. We reckon the new MPV will further boost Perodua’s sales, even if the sales tax exemption is ending this month.
