Perodua’s first major launch of the year seems to be approaching. The national carmaker just started teasing a brand new model, and based on the silhouette of the mysterious car, it looks to be the 2022 Perodua Alza.
Although the teaser video doesn’t show much of the new car, it does look strikingly similar to the Toyota Avanza and its twin, the Daihatsu Xenia. This leads us to believe that Perodua is teasing the all-new Alza, even though the carmaker didn’t outright confirm it.
If this really is the new Alza – which is very likely – it should feature similar equipment list as the Avanza/Xenia. These include a 1.5L engine that outputs 106PS and 138Nm of torque, as well as a D-CVT gearbox driving the front wheels; just like the transmission used in the new Myvi and Ativa.
Rumours suggest that the 2022 Perodua Alza will be offered in three different variants: X, H, and AV. Now that the national carmaker is already teasing the MPV, we reckon the local launch of the new Alza is just around the corner.
