The Xiaomi 12X Is a More Affordable Xiaomi 12 With Snapdragon 870 Instead
December 29, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Completing the Xiaomi 12 series is the most affordable device of the lot, the Xiaomi 12X. Essentially, it is a more affordable version of the standard Xiaomi 12; the only difference lies in the chip powering the phone.

Instead of Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, the Xiaomi 12X is packed with a Snapdragon 870 SoC instead. This chip is essentially a faster version of the Snapdragon 865, Qualcomm’s 2020 flagship processor.

Beyond the different chipset, the Xiaomi 12X is almost a carbon copy of the Xiaomi 12. It still has a compact design, thanks to its 69.9mm width and compact 6.28-inch 2400 x 1080 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This is also a dual curved screen, giving the phone a sleeker, more modern-looking aesthetic.

Other specifications of the Xiaomi 12X include 8GB or 12GB of RAM, two UFS 3.1 storage options (128GB or 256GB), a triple camera system (50MP primary + 13MP ultra-wide angle + 5MP telephoto macro), a 32MP selfie camera, as well as a 4,500mAh battery with support for 67W wired charging.

The Xiaomi 12X is only available in China at the moment with a 3,199 Chinese yuan starting price – that comes up to about RM2,100. No word yet on the availability of the 12X in other markets.
