While it’s still 2021, Xiaomi already unveiled its 2022 flagship phone, the Xiaomi 12. Naturally, it sports Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip packed in a compact, ergonomically-friendly chassis, with a budget-friendly price tag to boot.
Retailing from only 3,699 Chinese yuan – that comes up to about RM2,435 – the Xiaomi 12 is a relatively affordable flagship smartphone. As mentioned, it’s powered by the fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, which promises 30% faster GPU with 25% better power efficiency.
Aside from that, the Xiaomi 12 also sports a compact design, thanks to its 69.9mm width and compact 6.28-inch 2400 x 1080 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This is also a dual curved screen, giving the phone a sleeker, more modern-looking aesthetic.
Other specifications of the Xiaomi 12 include 8GB or 12GB of RAM, two UFS 3.1 storage options (128GB or 256GB), a triple camera system (50MP primary + 13MP ultra-wide angle + 5MP telephoto macro), a 32MP selfie camera, as well as a 4,500mAh battery with support for 67W wired charging; it can also do 50W wireless charging.
As usual, the Xiaomi 12 is only offered in China at the moment, though we reckon the compact flagship phone will eventually make it to other markets, including Malaysia.
