Just yesterday, Mihoyo revealed some key details on Hu Tao, and the developer confirmed today exactly when the 5-star character will be added to Genshin Impact. Her banner will go live this coming Tuesday on 2 March, and she will be joined by Xingqiu, Chongyun, and Xiangling.
Just like Genshin Impact’s previous character event banners, the “drop rate” of Hu Tao, Xingqiu, Chongyun, and Xiangling will be increased. In the case of Hu Tao, the first 5-star character you get will have a 50% chance to be her. If it’s not her, the next 5-star character you roll is guaranteed to be Hu Tao.
Since Genshin Impact’s pity system ensures that you will get at least one 5-star character or weapon every 90 wishes, you will have to do 180 rolls for a guaranteed chance to get Hu Tao.
Same goes for the 4-star characters, but given that there are three of them featured in the event banner, it’s a little bit more random. Basically, when you’re guaranteed a 4-star character from the banner, you will get either Xingqiu, Chongyun, or Xiangling. If you’re aiming to get either one of these three characters, you will likely have to roll a good number of times.
Besides the new banner, the story quest for Hu Tao, Papilio Charontis Chapter, will also be added to Genshin Impact on 2 March. Completing the story quest will reward players with Primogems, adventure experience, and a number of other rewards. However, to unlock the story quest, you’d have to be at least Adventure Rank 40; you’re also required to complete the Archon Quest “Farewell, Archaic Lord.”
To recap, Hu Tao’s Moment of Bloom banner will be released this Tuesday on 2 March. For us here in Malaysia, the banner will go live at 6PM alongside Hu Tao’s Papilio Charontis Chapter story quest.
