Huawei MediaPad M6 Now Available in Malaysia for RM1,899
December 23, 2019 Andrew Cheng

Huawei just launched a new Android tablet for the Malaysian market, the Huawei MediaPad M6. Sporting a large 10.8-inch display with a sharp 2560 x 1600 WQXGA resolution and good processing power, it’s a reasonably good tablet for productivity purposes.

One of the key selling points of the MediaPad M6 is its 10.8-inch 2K IPS display. Not only is it quite a pixel-dense panel, the screen also comes with Huawei’s ClariVu technology. According to the Chinese company, ClariVu uses “intelligent algorithms to enhance contrast and clarity” when you’re watching movies or playing games on this tablet.

I managed to spend a brief time with the MediaPad M6, and the screen does look good. It can get quite bright, colours are vibrant and punchy, and really, it’s a pleasant screen to look at. Whether you’re using it for media consumption or productivity tasks, you won’t be disappointed with the screen quality.

Besides that, powering the MediaPad M6 is Huawei’s own Kirin 980 chipset; the same SoC found in other flagship smartphones from the company, including the Huawei P30 and Mate 20 series. It may not be the latest Kirin 990 chipset, but rest assured, the Kirin 980 is still a very capable chip.

Speaking of which, it’s also worth noting that the Kirin 980 processor is built on a 7nm process, so it’s quite a power-efficient chipset. This, paired with the MediaPad M6’s generous 7,500mAh battery, should allow the tablet to return above average battery life.

Given its focus on productivity, the MediaPad M6 supports a number of accessories to complement this particular aspect of the tablet. There’s the Smart Magnetic Keyboard, which (obviously) magnetically attaches to the tablet, and the M-Pen stylus for the creative folks. Oh, it also has a PC Mode to mimic a desktop environment.

You wouldn’t really want to photograph with a tablet this big, but if it ever becomes necessary, the MediaPad M6 will do in a pinch. On the back, it comes with a 13MP f/1.8 shooter. If you want to take selfie shots or make a video call with the tablet instead, there’s the 8MP f/2.0 front-facing camera.

Other specifications of the MediaPad M6 include 4GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (it supports cards up to 512GB), a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and EMUI 10 based on Android 10 out of the box.

The Huawei MediaPad M6 is now available for purchase in Malaysia for RM1,899. Offered only in Titanium Grey, early birds will also get the Smart Magnetic Keyboard and M-Pen stylus bundled with the tablet; these accessories are worth RM568.
