This is a bit of a surprise: two intriguing smartphones have just appeared in SIRIM. Based on the model number of the two devices, we believe they are the Xiaomi Mi 10T and Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition – two smartphones that have not been announced yet.
Let’s start with the unannounced Xiaomi device. Registered just today under Xiaomi Malaysia with the model number M2007J3SY, this smartphone is said to belong to the new Mi 10T series. It’s expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip, and to top it off, it is widely believed to be sporting a fast 144Hz screen.
As for the Samsung device, it’s also registered under Samsung Malaysia just today with the model number SM-G781B. A quick Google search shows that this is very likely the upcoming Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, which is set to be introduced later this week on 23 September.
Based on the SIRIM listing, the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition comes with 5G connectivity, which lines up with leaked specifications of the more budget-friendly flagship smartphone. Other rumoured specifications of this device include a 120Hz screen, a triple camera system, and four distinct colours: dark blue, mint green, red, and pink.
Now that the Xiaomi Mi 10T and Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition have appeared in SIRIM, it’s only a matter of time before we hear more about the local availability of these two smartphones. This is especially true of the S20 Fan Edition, which is expected to be be unveiled this Wednesday at 10PM.
