This is the Vega, a custom mechanical keyboard by ai03 and Kevinplus. We were lucky enough to secure a unit during the in-stock drop, and we spent a total of RM3,000 to complete the keyboard…give or take. That’s right, RM3,000 for a (fantastic) mechanical keyboard.
Now, it’s worth noting that the Vega itself “only” cost $359, which comes up to about RM1,460. But shipping and import duties drove the price up to approximately RM1,700, and together with the GMK Fuyu keycaps – which cost us RM1,000 since we got it from the extras sale – C3 Tangerine V2 switches (RM250), and JWK screw-in stabilisers (RM50), the total cost is RM3,000.
Yes, RM3,000 is a lot of money for “just” a keyboard, but the Vega is an absolute joy to type on; watch the video above to see what we mean. If you’re keen to get the Vega, the group buy is set to begin this Sunday on 29 November at 1AM Malaysian time right here. It will cost $329 (about RM1,340) for the group buy instead of $359, and the keyboard kit will begin shipping sometime in the middle of 2021 next year.
