Proton Sold 13,028 Units in March 2022 – 41.2% Increase in Sales

Proton’s sales bounced back for the month of March 2022. With over 13,028 units sold, this is a whopping 41.2% improvement compared to the national carmaker’s sales figure the previous month in February 2022 (9,225 units).

Leading the sales is none other than the Proton Saga: over 6,422 units of the A-segment sedan were delivered last month. Not only is it the best-selling A-segment model as a whole in March 2022, it is also the sedan’s highest sales in almost nine years.

Right behind the Saga in sales is the X70 with 2,320 units sold, followed by the X50 (1,573 units). This is quite a big difference compared to February 2022’s deliveries, where 3,002 units of the latter were delivered.

Rounding out Proton’s sales for March 20222 are the Persona (1,411 units), Iriz (766 units), and the Exora (536 units). According to Proton, the Persona and Iriz are in third and fourth places in their respective segments due to “stiff competition and parts shortages,” as the company puts it.

“The first three months of 2022 has been tough for Proton and our customers. Production issues continue to suppress our true potential and as a result, created a long waiting list for our cars,” said the CEO of Proton Edar, Roslan Abdullah.

“Our parts supply and hence, production volumes, began to stabilise in March but we’re expecting a few more disruptions in the coming months as other industries ramp up their production,” he added.
