Proton’s February 2022 Sales Increase by 107% – Proton X50 Best-Selling Model

After the floods affected Proton’s sales in January 2022, the national carmaker fared much better the following month. In February 2022, Proton managed to sell 9,225 units; a 107% increase over the previous month’s figure of 4,453 units sold.

Leading Proton’s sales last month is none other than the Proton X50 with 3,002 units sold. In fact, Proton said that the X50 has received over 100,000 bookings in only 16 months, making it the best-selling SUV in Malaysia.

In second spot is the Proton Saga with 2,951 units sold. Normally a best-seller for the carmaker, Proton said the A-segment sedan only managed half a month of normal production last month, “suppressing its full potential,” as the company puts it. In third spot is the Proton Persona (1,675), followed by the X70 (1,119), Iriz (321), and Exora (157).

“February’s rebound in sales is a direct result of the company being able to produce more cars. This was only made possible by the outstanding joint efforts of our vendors and Proton staff, who worked and continue to work ceaselessly to get us back on track,” said the CEO of Proton Edar, Roslan Abdullah.

“Thankfully, our order bank remains healthy, and we remain hopeful of catching up to our targets for this year,” he added.
