Next-Gen iPad Pro Unveiled With M2 Chip From RM3,899 in Malaysia

Surprise surprise, Apple just introduced a new iPad Pro. Now powered by the Cupertino company’s very own M2 chip – which was previously only found on the latest MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro – the new iPad is faster than ever with some new capabilities.

First, prices. Here in Malaysia, the 11-inch iPad Pro retails from RM3,899 for the 128GB base model. As for the larger, higher-end 12.9-inch variant, it starts at RM5,399 (also for the 128GB version). Unfortunately, the local availability of the new iPad Pro has not been revealed yet.

The biggest change to the iPad Pro is definitely the new M2 chip, which promises up to 15% faster performance compared to the M1. Packed with a 10-core GPU, the M2 also delivers up to 35% faster graphics performance. Suffice to say the updated iPad Pro is faster than the previous model.

Creative folks will be happy to know that the new iPad Pro now has “hover” support with the 2nd gen Apple Pencil; it will be detected up to 12mm above the display. This makes it easier for users to see a preview of where their inputs will be positioned on the screen before doing any changes.

It’s also worth noting that the updated iPad Pro now features WiFi 6E, enabling download speeds up to 2.4Gbps. Beyond that, other hardware of the iPad Pro are similar to its predecessor, including ProMotion technology for 120Hz refresh rate, a mini-LED display for the 12.9-inch model, and a familiar design.

To recap, the new iPad Pro retails from RM3,899 for the 11-inch model, while the larger 12.9-inch variant starts at RM5,399. No word yet when the next-gen iPad Pro can be purchased in Malaysia, but rest assured, we will keep a close eye on it.
