Besides the brand new MacBook Air, Apple also updated the 13-inch MacBook Pro with its brand new M2 chip. Beyond the new processor, other hardware of the MacBook remain the same, including the divisive Touch Bar.
Two main configurations of the new 13-inch MacBook Pro are offered in Malaysia. The more affordable RM5,699 model is powered by the M2 chip with an 8-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, 8GB unified memory, and a 256GB SSD.
Those who want more storage space can opt for the RM6,499 variant instead, which comes with a more generous 512GB SSD.
Aside from the new M2 chip, the updated 13-inch MacBook Pro is similar to the previous model. It still comes with a 13.3‑inch 2560 x 1600 IPS display with True Tone technology, support for P3 wide colour gamut, and up to 500 nits of brightness. All in all, it’s the same screen people know and love, though it would’ve been great if the bezels surrounding the display were reduced too.
The new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Apple M2 chip will be available in Malaysia sometime in July 2022 next month. To recap, it starts at RM5,699 on our shores – just RM100 more than the M1-based model.
