Genshin Impact’s new double banner is back for the Version 2.4 update. The first phase will feature Shenhe, a brand new 5-star Cryo character, as well as Xiao – this is his first rerun banner. Set to go live next week on 5 January, these two characters will be accompanied by Yun Jin (also a new character), Ningguang, and Chongyun.
That’s right, even though Shenhe and Xiao will be featured in separate event wishes, they both share the same roster of 4-star characters. Of course, pity is also shared between the two banners, and the wish guarantee count will carry over to future character banners too.
Just like Genshin Impact’s previous character event wishes, the “drop rate” of Shenhe, Xiao, Yun Jin, Ningguang, and Chongyun will be increased. In the case of Shenhe and Xiao, the first 5-star character you get will have a 50% chance to be either of them, depending on which banner you’re wishing. If you got a different character, the next 5-star character you roll is guaranteed to be them.
Since Genshin Impact’s pity system for character banners ensures that you will get at least one 5-star character every 90 wishes, you will have to do 180 rolls for a guaranteed Shenhe or Xiao. The same rule applies to 4-star characters (guaranteed every 10-roll instead), but given that there are three of them featured in the banner, it’s a little bit more random.
Basically, when you’re guaranteed a 4-star character from the banner, you will get either Yun Jin, Ningguang, or Chongyun. If you’re aiming to get either one of these three characters – especially Yun Jin, given that she’s a new character – you will likely have to roll a good number of times, depending on your luck.
Shenhe’s “The Transcendent One Returns” and Xiao’s “Invitation to Mundane Life” event wishes will go live on Genshin Impact this coming Wednesday on 5 January 2022 right after the Version 2.4 update. Their banners will be available until 25 January; the same day Ganyu’s and Zhongli’s rerun banners drop.
