Proton Launching (At Least) 3 New Models in 2025: Saga MC3, X50 Facelift, e.MAS 3/5

Proton recently confirmed to members of the media that it is launching (at least) three new models in 2025. Though the national carmaker didn’t explicitly mention the models that are coming – revealing only the platforms – it’s possible we’re looking at the Saga MC3, X50 facelift, and either the e.MAS 3 or e.MAS 5; maybe even both.

According to Proton, only one model will be launched with the new “AMA” platform, which many believe will be the platform the new Saga MC3 facelift will be built on. As for GMA – it stands for Global Modular Architecture – that’s the platform used by the e.MAS 7 EV, and Proton CEO Li Chunrong mentioned both the e.MAS 3 and e.MAS 5 at his presentation for this particular platform.

Chances are, Proton will eventually launch these two EV models in Malaysia. The only question is what will the Geely Geome Xingyuan be dubbed – which is believed to be the basis for Proton’s next EV – once it is sold on our shores, though it is rumoured to be called the e.MAS 5.

Last but not least is one (or more) model to be launched under the Proton X or S series. Several test mules of the X50 have been spotted on Malaysian roads, so there’s a good chance the popular B-segment SUV will receive a proper facelift this year. We even spotted what is potentially the head unit of the 2025 X50 in SIRIM’s database.

It’s shaping up to be a rather exciting year for Proton with the promise of three new model launches. We reckon most folks will be excited for the Saga and X50 to be properly updated this year, given that these are Proton’s two top-selling models.
