It’s time for the weekly fuel price update, and after seeing no price movement for quite some time, RON 97 is going up by 3 sen to RM3.22/litre from 19 to 25 December next week. As for diesel, it’s maintained at RM2.95/litre alongside RON 95 at its ceiling price of RM2.05/litre.

It’s worth noting that the floating RM2.95/litre price for diesel is only in Peninsular Malaysia; the old RM2.15/litre price is still applicable in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan. The government is floating the prices of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia now that the RM200/month diesel subsidy is underway.

To recap, the diesel subsidy under the government’s Budi programme offers a RM200/month diesel subsidy for Malaysians who are earning less than RM100,000 annually. They also must own a diesel-based personal vehicle that is less than 10 years old.

If you’re eligible for the RM200/month diesel subsidy, you can submit your application on https://budimadani.gov.my/. Do note that at the moment, applications will remain open throughout the year, so you won’t have to worry about missing any deadline until further notice.
