Buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ for Its Great Software Support
December 11, 2024 Andrew Cheng

As a high-end Android tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ has many winning qualities. On top of the Korean company’s slew of Galaxy AI features, the flagship tablet’s S Pen is also as good as ever, and its MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset offers a good level of performance too.

But the best reason to purchase the Galaxy Tab S10+, in my opinion, is for its robust software support. After all, it gets seven years of software and security updates, matching the software support of Samsung’s recent flagship devices like the Galaxy S24 series.

In a market where the software support of tablets from different brands is not even half as long as what Samsung is promising really gives the Galaxy Tab S10+ an edge. It goes without saying that good software support in the long-term is important for folks who want to use their devices for more than a few years.

While seven years of software and security updates for the Galaxy Tab S10+ is great, there is a caveat here. Unlike Samsung’s range of smartphones, which gets monthly updates, its tablets – including the Tab S10+ – only gets quarterly updates. That is, it only gets four software updates a year.

It’s not an ideal situation, but it’s still impressive that the Tab S10+ will continue to receive software updates seven years down the line. At least, that’s what Samsung is promising.

Beyond software, the Galaxy Tab S10+ is a properly high-end tablet. Its Galaxy AI features are fun to explore, the Dimensity 9300+ can provide fast performance even in demanding mobile games, and it has a bright and vibrant 12.4-inch 2800 x 1752 Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz refresh rate too.

When paired with the keyboard cover, the Galaxy Tab S10+ can even serve as a pretty good productivity machine. The Book Cover Keyboard Slim, as Samsung calls it, has enough key travel to provide a comfortable typing experience. While the typing angle is a tad too flat for my liking, I do like the tactility of the keys.

The best part is, the keyboard cover is currently bundled for free with the Tab S10+. Given that the keyboard normally costs RM749, that’s good added value.

However, the RM4,599 starting price of the Galaxy Tab S10+ isn’t exactly affordable, which goes up to a whopping RM5,249 to add cellular connectivity. At this price point, the Tab S10+ has to contend with other tablets that offer superior value for money, though it’s worth mentioning that most of them still can’t quite compete with the sheer functionalities of the S Pen.

Even though the value proposition of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ isn’t great, there’s no denying that it has a complete set of features with a premium appeal. It also has good performance, a water-resistant design, the very useful S Pen, and of course, Galaxy AI smarts. In short, there are plenty of things to love about the high-end tablet, including robust software support.
