The Huawei Watch D2 has also been launched in Malaysia today alongside the MatePad 12 X tablet, and what sets the wearable apart from the competition is its ability to monitor blood pressure. In fact, it’s touted as the first smartwatch with ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) that’s approved by the Malaysian Medical Device Authority, National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), and Medical Device Regulation (MDR).
Of course, such a tech does not come cheap. For the Malaysian market, the Watch D2 is priced at RM1,199. At the launch of the smartwatch, Huawei emphasises the importance of ABPM to accurately measure blood pressure, which is “one of three blood pressure measurement modes for hypertension diagnosis,” as Huawei puts it.
Rounding out the specifications of the Watch D2 include a 1.82-inch 480 x 408 AMOLED display with 1,500 nits peak brightness, over 80 different exercise modes, an IP68 rating, and up to six days of battery life, though it goes down to one day with ABPM enabled.
The Huawei Watch D2 is now available for pre-order in Malaysia until 29 November for RM1,999. Early birds can claim a RM100 voucher with every pre-order of the smartwatch along with up to RM1,276 worth of free gifts. These include a Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2, Huawei Scale 3, a Huawei Watch D2 strap, a two-year warrantly, and accidental damage protection.
