In line with Pos Malaysia’s sustainability roadmap announced in March 2023 – where it targets to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050 – the delivery service is adding over 1,092 units of the Modenas MEV-1 Pro to its delivery fleet. The electric scooter complements Pos Malaysia’s existing 220 e-bikes and 143 e-vans, which is touted by the company to be the largest EV fleet of any logistics provider in Malaysia.
The MEV-1 Pro is said to be designed for B2B purposes with the ability to handle heavy loads. The e-scooter has a total capacity of up to 250kg, divided between the rider (up to 100kg) and up to 150kg of cargo. It also has a maximum power output of 4.3kW with the ability to climb inclines of up to 19-degree, making it “exceptionally capable for challenging delivery routes,” as Pos Malaysia puts it.
Besides that, the 5.4kWh battery of the MEV-1 Pro can provide up to 95km of range on a single charge with a top speed of 85kmph. As for AC charging, it takes four hours to fully charge the battery from empty. Oh, the MEV-1 Pro also features combined braking system (CBS), which evenly distributes brake force to the front and rear disc brakes.
It’s worth noting that Modenas will also be offering an electric bike to regular consumers sometime in 2025, though it remains to be seen if it will be based on the Modenas MEV-1 Pro. Nonetheless, it’s always good to have more options in the growing electric bike market, especially now that the government is extending the RM2,400 rebate on such two-wheelers.
