Honda Malaysia Recalls Honda Civic, Civic Type R, CR-V Over Steering Issue – 36,000 Units Affected
November 6, 2024 Andrew Cheng

Honda Malaysia is performing a product recall – though the Japanese carmaker calls it a product update – for three of its models. These include the 11th generation Civic (2022 – 2024), the Civic Type R (2023 – 2024), as well as the 6th generation CR-V (2024).

In total, 36,000 units of the three models are involved in the recall, though Honda Malaysia did not provide exact breakdown for each model. The recall is to address an issue with the electric power steering (EPS) gearbox, where the worm wheel “may swell and reduce grease film thickness, causing abnormal steering noise or sticky steering.”

Naturally, the carmaker will bear the cost of inspection, repair, and replacement of the affected parts, and replacement stock will be available in stages from December onwards. It’s worth noting that only these three models mentioned are involved in the recall, and Honda Malaysia assures customers that other current production and selling models are not affected.

If you’re affected by the product recall, Honda Malaysia will notify you. Alternatively, you can also get confirmation from the carmaker itself by calling Honda Malaysia’s toll-free number (1-800-88-2020), contacting any Honda authorised dealer, or checking the official webpage for the product recall.
