Who would’ve thought a brand new iPhone would be cheaper at launch here in Malaysia? Well, that’s exactly the case with the just-announced iPhone 16 series. Retailing from RM3,999, the price of entry for the shiny new iPhones is actually lower by RM400.
The RM3,999 starting price is naturally for the base iPhone 16, which is quite a bit lower than the iPhone 15’s pricing at launch, which started at RM4,399. If you’re looking at the iPhone 16 Pro instead, well, it now retails from only RM4,999, which is a more drastic RM500 price difference over the iPhone 15 Pro‘s RM5,499 starting price last year.
Beyond the cheaper price tags, Malaysia is also one of the first markets to get the new iPhone 16 series. Local pre-orders of the new smartphones start 13 September this Friday at 8PM, and the devices will hit store shelves next week itself on 20 September. Evidently, the opening of Apple The Exchange TRX made a difference to the availability of Apple products on our shores.
In fact, it’s great that Malaysians can now be one of the first to get their hands on the latest iPhones; gone are the days of purchasing the new iPhones from parallel importers with severely marked up prices. To recap, the iPhone 16 starts at RM3,999 in Malaysia, while the higher-end iPhone 16 Pro retails from RM4,999.
