There’s a new variant of the luxurious EQS electric SUV. The Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4Matic joins the lineup as a more affordable alternative to the now range-topping EQS 580 4Matic, and the former can even provide longer range of up to 673km on the stringent WLTP cycle.
How much more affordable is it? Well, the EQS 450 4Matic is priced at a cool RM625,888 with 10% sales tax included; this makes it exactly RM74,000 less expensive than the EQS 580 4Matic. Featuring a dual motor setup with a combined output of 265kW (360hp) and 800Nm of torque, the sizeable SUV can go from 0-100kmph in 6.1 seconds with a top speed of 210kmph.
Thanks to the inclusion of a 22kW onboard AC charger, the EQS 450 4Matic’s large 118kWh battery can be charged from zero to full in six hours and 15 minutes. With a faster DC charger, on the other hand, the electric SUV can draw up to 200kW of power for a 10-80% charging time of 31 minutes.
Safety wise, the EQS 450 4Matic comes with a sophisticated suite of driving assistance systems courtesy of the Driving Assistance Package Plus. It includes Distronic Plus – it’s the carmaker’s version of adaptive cruise control – active lane keeping assist, active steering assist, evasive manoeuvre support, as well as Pre-Safe Impulse Side; this feature reduces the risk of injury to the driver and passenger in the event of a side collision.
Other noteworthy specifications of the EQS 450 4Matic include 22-inch AMG multi-spoke wheels, Mercedes-Benz’s Airmatic air suspension system, as well as a large 17.7-inch central screen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
To recap, the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4Matic is priced at RM625,888 in Malaysia, and it is now available for booking on our shores. Deliveries of the electric SUV are set to start sometime in September next month.
