The luxurious Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic electric SUV has made its way to the Malaysian market. Not only does the seven-seater EV have a respectable range of up to 615km on the WLTP cycle, it is also packed with a 22kW onboard AC charger – it’s the first EQ model locally to get this.

Here in Malaysia, the EQS 580 4Matic is priced at a cool RM699,888 with 10% sales tax included. Featuring a dual motor setup with a combined output of 544hp and 858Nm of torque, the sizeable SUV can go from 0-100kmph in only 4.6 seconds. It also has a top speed of 210kmph.

Thanks to the inclusion of a 22kW onboard AC charger, the EQS 580 4Matic’s large 108.4kWh battery can be charged from zero to full in five hours and 30 minutes with a standard AC charger. With a faster DC charger, on the other hand, the electric SUV can draw up to 200kW of power for a 0-80% charging time of 31 minutes.

Safety wise, the EQS 580 4Matic comes with a sophisticated suite of driving assistance systems courtesy of the Driving Assistance Package Plus. It includes Distronic Plus – it’s the carmaker’s version of adaptive cruise control – active lane keeping assist, active steering assist, evasive manoeuvre support, as well as Pre-Safe Impulse Side; this feature reduces the risk of injury to the driver and passenger in the event of a side collision.

Other noteworthy specifications of the EQS 580 4Matic include 22-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels, Mercedes-Benz’s Airmatic air suspension system, as well as a large 17.7-inch central screen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
