Lotus Cars Malaysia just launched its obscenely powerful electric hyper GT locally, the Lotus Emeya. With a 0-100kmph time of merely 2.8 seconds, it is touted as one of the fastest electric GTs in the world, and the sporty EV starts at RM555,000 in Malaysia.

Of course, the RM555,000 price tag is for the base Emeya; it goes up to RM643,000 for the mid-range Emeya S. If you want even more power, there’s the range-topping Emeya R for a cool RM777,000. All variants of the EV come with a five-year/150,000km warranty, while the battery has an eight-year/200,000km warranty.

Naturally, it’s the highest-end Emeya R that can do the century sprint in 2.8 seconds; more specifically, 2.78 seconds. After all, it produces a whopping 675kW (905hp) with 985Nm of torque out of a dual-motor setup. As for range, it can go up to 435km on a single charge based on the stringent WLTP cycle.

As for the Emeya S and standard Emeya, both of them feature a single motor that outputs 450kW (603hp) and 710Nm of torque for a 0-100kmph time of 4.2 seconds; still very respectable performance. As for WLTP range, the Emeya S and Emeya can provide up to 540km and 610km of range respectively.

According to Lotus Cars Malaysia, all variants of the Emeya can do 400kW DC charging. Only 14 minutes of charging is required to get the 102kWh battery from 10% to 80% battery. As for AC charging, the EV can pull 22kW of power, yielding a zero to 100% charge in 5.8 hours.

The Lotus Emeya is launched together with the opening of the Lotus Kuala Lumpur flagship store, which is located at 24, Jalan Juruhebah U1/50, Temasya Industrial Park, 40150 Section U1, Shah Alam.
