It looks like another one of our Malaysian athletes will be coming home from the 2024 Paris Olympics to a brand new car. Lee Zii Jia’s bronze medal win in the men’s singles badminton event against India’s Lakshya Sen last night scored him a Chery Tiggo 7 Pro alongside badminton duo Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.
The Olympic bronze is Lee’s first-ever medal, and he is only the third Malaysian male to win a medal in the men’s singles badminton event after Rashid Sidek and Lee Chong Wei. Needless to say, this is certainly a great achievement.
Chery announced its support for Malaysian athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics back in June, offering free cars to medal winners. Those who manage to win a gold medal will walk away with a Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, while silver medal winners get the Chery Omoda E5 electric SUV. As for bronze medal winners, they will receive the aforementioned Chery Tiggo 7 Pro.
“We know they have put in the hard work and long hours of training for the games. We have high hopes that this year, Malaysia will achieve the coveted gold medal that the nation has been eyeing,” said the President of Chery Auto Malaysia, Leo Chen.

There are still a number of Malaysian athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics eagerly waiting for their respective events, including Azizulhasni Awang. The cyclist is eyeing to secure Malaysia’s first Olympic gold medal in men’s sprint cycling.
