It’s almost like an open secret that the first Proton e.MAS EV model that is set to be launched sometime in December 2024 – which is likely dubbed e.MAS7 – will be based on the Geely Galaxy E5. Well, the CEO of Pro-Net himself, Zhang Qiang, is giving us even more reason to believe so.
First spotted by WapCar, Zhang shared on a post on WeChat (in Chinese) saying that the Proton e.MAS is coming soon while quoting the global launch date of the Galaxy E5 on 3 August. This (almost) confirms the tie-in between Geely’s electric SUV and the e.MAS7.
Beyond the e.MAS7, Proton is also expected to release two other EVs under the e.MAS lineup. One of them is teased to be a sedan, while the other one is a hatchback of sorts. Evidently, Proton is putting quite a bit of focus on its EV development.
To recap, the first Proton e.MAS EV model is expected to be introduced towards the end of the year in December 2024. If Zhang’s WeChat post – not to mention the plethora of rumours and leaks – is any indication, it should be an electric SUV based on the Geely Galaxy E5.
