Yoodo Brand to Be Discontinued on 29 August 2024
May 17, 2024 Andrew Cheng

Yoodo just shared more details on the future of the telco following the CelcomDigi merger. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) previously stated that Yoodo has to be divested within 18 months after the merger’s completion, so come 29 August 2024, the brand will be discontinued.

Until that date, services offered by Yoodo through the CelcomDigi network will not be affected. Unfortunately, no other details were revealed by the telco; the company only mentioned that more details will be shared by 17 June next month.

Previously, CelcomDigi CEO Datuk Idham Nawawi confirmed that Yoodo will be divested, which was operating under Celcom before the merger. The telco was already in talks with various parties – including foreign ones – who were keen to take up Yoodo. Given the telco’s focus on esports, it was looking for partners who can further elevate Yoodo in this particular scene.

At the moment, no action is required from Yoodo customers until the brand itself is discontinued on 29 August, though the option to port out to other telcos is available. Nonetheless, we’ll learn more about Yoodo’s transition by 17 June next month.
