Proton is hard at work testing its upcoming models on Malaysian roads. A couple of weeks after the new Infinite Weave grille of the Proton X70 MC2 facelift was leaked, we’ve got more spy shots of the updated SUV on Malaysian roads, showcasing said grille and new headlights.
These images of the X70 facelift were shared to Paultan.org by Adam Johnston and Putra Kamrin Azran. We can see the SUV’s new X90-like Infinite Weave grille complete with diamond-shaped studs, and while the taillights don’t see any changes from the current X70, the headlights do look to be slimmer now – likely mirroring the 2022 Boyue facelift.
After all, many believe that the upcoming X70 facelift will be based on the 2022 Boyue, which features a redesigned front end for a sleeker, more modern-looking aesthetic. It’s said to feature LED headlights too, though it remains to be seen if all variants of the SUV will get the same headlights.
Beyond the updated exterior, the facelifted X70 is said to feature a new interior too, which we reckon will (again) take cues from the Boyue facelift. If this is indeed the case, it’ll feature a bigger, more modern-looking infotainment screen. There should be some changes to the overall dashboard design too, as you can see below.
As for expected release, the Proton X70 MC2 facelift is rumoured to be introduced towards the end of the year or January 2024 after the launch of the much anticipated Proton S70 sedan sometime this month. The Proton X50 is also said to be receiving a Running Change update, which should bring some improvements to the popular B-segment SUV.
