Now this is interesting. The previous spy shots of what was believed to be the Proton X50 RC1 facelift roaming on Malaysian roads turns out to be the Geely Binyue Cool. However, as the test mule is using Proton’s trade plate, there’s a good chance the national carmaker is using the model as a base for the upcoming X50 refresh.

These images were shared to Paultan.org by one Noor Syazwan Sajali. It is our clearest look yet at the SUV, which is almost definitely the Binyue Cool. After all, this is a left-hand drive unit, and the interior of the SUV matches the Geely SUV, complete with the large dual screen setup.

Nonetheless, if the rumoured X50 facelift will indeed take design inspirations from the Binyue Cool, the SUV will look quite a bit more aggressive than the current model. It remains to be seen if the interior of the X50 facelift will also follow suit the Binyue Cool’s more modern styling.

As for expected release, the Proton X50 RC1 facelift is rumoured to be introduced towards the end of the year or January 2024. That would be after the launch of the much anticipated Proton S70 sedan sometime this month, as well as the Proton X70 MC2 facelift at a later date.
