Spy Shot: Proton X50 RC1 Facelift Spotted for the First Time in Malaysia!

It’s looking to be a very busy period for Proton. Not only does the national carmaker have the S70 and X70 in the pipeline, we now have the very first spy shot of the rumoured X50 RC1 (Running Change) facelift on Malaysian roads!

These images of the (alleged) X50 RC1 were taken by one Hector Soh and subsequently shared by WapCar. Both the front and rear ends of the SUV are heavily camouflaged, suggesting that this could be a rather extensive facelift, despite this being only a “Running Change” update.

Looking at the spy shots – though the image quality isn’t great – the X50 RC1 looks to take some design inspirations from the Binyue Cool. It was launched in China last year, and it has a much more aggressive and modern styling. It remains to be seen if the interior of the X50 facelift will also be updated.

As for expected release, the Proton X50 RC1 facelift is rumoured to be introduced towards the end of the year or January 2024. That would be after the launch of the much anticipated Proton S70 sedan sometime this month, as well as the Proton X70 MC2 facelift at a later date.
