Last month, we spotted the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 in SIRIM’s database. Fast forward to today, the laptop has officially been announced. Not much changes can be seen on the outside, though the convertible laptop does get some new hardware under the hood.
The biggest upgrade to the Surface Laptop Studio 2 is the 13th gen Intel Core i7-13700H processor. Complemented with either an Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050, or a beefier RTX 4060 – there’s also an RTX 2000 Ada Generation option for commercial use – it should be able to offer a higher level of performance compared to the previous model.

Other specifications of the Surface Laptop Studio 2 include up to 64GB of LPDDR5X RAM, three SSD storage options (512GB, 1TB, 2TB), a 14.4-inch 2400 x 1600 PixelSense Flow display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 19 hours of battery life, and the addition of two ports: a USB-A connector and a microSD card slot.
The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 will be available in the US from 3 October onwards with a $1,999 starting price, which comes up to about RM9,375. While Microsoft Malaysia’s website doesn’t have a product page for the new laptop yet, we reckon it will be available here soon, given that it has already been certified by SIRIM.
