More Proton S50 Details & Images Leaked: 1.5L Turbo Engine, 7DCT, 12″ Digital Meter
September 17, 2023 Andrew Cheng

As we approach closer to the (likely) November debut of the highly anticipated Proton S50, more details on the upcoming sedan have been leaked. According to a source that has allegedly tested the S50, the car is indeed powered by a 1.5L turbo engine paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT).

At least, that’s what The Ajerul‘s source is saying. Several close-up shots of the S50’s front end were also shared in the Facebook post, and it looks to be in the Marine Blue colourway. It’s worth noting that this paint job first made its debut on the Proton X90.

Beyond the aforementioned 7DCT and 1.5L TGDi engine – the latter should have similar outputs (177PS and 255Nm of torque) as the mill found in other Proton X series models – the S50 is said to have a 12-inch full LCD meter as well. Chances are, Proton is retaining the Emgrand’s 12.3-inch digital meter for the S50.

Of course, until confirmed by Proton itself, take these leaked details of the Proton S50 with a grain of salt, though the unavailability of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is confirmed already. We should learn more about the S50 as we approach closer to the November 2023 launch of the sedan.
