Proton has crossed the 100,000 sales mark as of August 2023, which is a month ahead compared to the national carmaker’s sales performance last year. More specifically, Proton has sold 104,602 units in 2023 to date, with 13,955 cars registered last month.
Not surprisingly, the new Proton X90 continues to dominate the D-segment SUV market. 719 units of the premium SUV were sold in August 2023, with a total of 2,944 units delivered so far. Also retaining its top spot in the B-segment SUV category is the Proton X50: 2,558 units were delivered last month for a total of 22,750 units sold for the past eight months.

The Exora sits at the top of the C-segment MPV market too with 409 units registered in August 2023 (3,150 units delivered so far). Not surprisingly, the Saga remains Proton’s best-selling model with 6,585 units sold last month alone for a total of 45,836 units received by customers in 2023 to date.
“For Proton, our sales growth is a reflection of how the company’s focus on delivering better quality products paired to a premium experience delivered by the 154 3S/4S dealerships in our network, have a positive effect on customers,” said the Deputy CEO of Proton, Roslan Abdullah.
“Going forwards, these efforts towards better products and services will continue and be boosted by the recent announcement of Proton Test Labs receiving ISO 17025 accreditation as well as the company’s impending entry into the EV space with smart Malaysia,” he added.
